Pera Spadona of Salerno has been cultivated for centuries in the Picentini area, in the Province of Salerno and from here, in the fifties, it spread to the Plain of Sele. It is considered the best pear cultivar of Campania and it feeds a moderate market that passes the borders of the region. Pera Spadona is a medium green pear with the side more exposed to the sun fading into pink. Its pulp is very juicy and tasty. It tends to mature in late summer and it is sold until Christmas.
